Coach Jose Pekerman announced on Monday that Falcao will miss the World cup,Falcao has been a doubt all year long since undergoing surgery on his knee in January.Colombians were hoping for a miracle that the striker would be fit by the time of the World cup,but it was just not to be.Falcao was there main hope of doing great in the World cup but after this massive blow all Colombians including fans,staff and players have been demoralized .We were all hoping to see Falcao at the World cup his is a very important player that can change the course of the game for any team.
Falcao scored 9 goals for Colombia in the qualifiers and was the main asset that made them qualify for the first time in 16 years.Falcao was posting some pictures of Him training and running which gave everyone hope that He will be fit for the World cup.The striker said some wise words in the conference and tried to lift all of His teammates spirits.
Coach Peherman said on sky news."This is the worst day of my life as coach.We can say to all of Colombia He did more than was within his power to be fit in time for the competion,He deserved the right for us to wait till the last minute and keep hope alive."The 28 year old player said."I lack match fitness,the best thin i can do is not play and just stay on the side line,I will travel to Brazil with my teammates and will support them the whole way.I really wanted to play but nothing can be done,the best thing for Me to do is not play to avoid any future problems.But the best thing i can do for the team is support them threw the whole competition.Colombia will meet Greece,Ivory Coast and Japan.(soccerheatbase)
